Academic objectives

At Piberhus we want to prepare children to be part of the society that surrounds them. We ensure that the efforts in relation to the child are coordinated with all parties involved, including the family, the administration, the school and other contact points. Our professional objective is;

  • To create continuity, a safe and predictable environment at the place of residence.

  • To achieve stability in the child's/young person's relationships with adults, parents and other young people in and outside the place of residence.

  • To create a basis for the child/young person to reorient themselves and take new steps in their lives.

  • To support young people in relation to the wishes and dreams they have for their lives.

  • To create the necessary security for the child/young person so that he/she can and dares to try new initiatives and gain their own experiences in relation to wishes and dreams.

In its objectives, the Piberhus Residence is aware of living up to the purpose of the Danish Service Act to provide special support to children and young people by creating the best possible growing-up conditions for these children and young people. So that, despite their individual difficulties, they can achieve the same opportunities for personal development, self-expression and health as their peers (Service Act §52, subsection 3).

Goals and development

We set goals for the individual based on the young person's action plan already upon enrollment. As we get to know the young person better, the goals are adjusted and interim goals are created to ensure that these are achievable. Our work on the development of the individual is made visible in our development plans, which describe how we work with each goal and the path to achieving it. Based on each individual child, we assess to what extent and how we can give the young person the greatest possible influence on their own life, based on the zone of proximal development.

Documentation

Status reports are prepared twice a year, which are reviewed with the young person before being discussed with parents and the requesting municipality. Development plans are prepared continuously in collaboration with the young person, and form the basis for the individual educational plans. It is emphasized that there is a common thread between the collaboration with parents, the action plan from the municipality and the development work with the young person.
